About The Big Bang:
So. We're the Big Bang. Started doin this December 2003. First it was Matt, Scott and Dan. 2 guitars and drums, no bass but a heap of fx pedals and amps. Rented a scary plaid-walled hole in Hockley and locked ourselves in with cheap booze, paranoia, Black Sabbath and rats that practice voodoo. Made a scary racket that sounded like Monster Magnet meets Chuck Berry, with varying degrees of success.
Started playing a club called ColdRice. Became lifelong friends with all involved, going on to be housemates, girlfriends, touring partners, producers and rock'n'roll brotherhood. Moved in to Fazeley Park studios with brothers Copter.
Various attempts at 'big time', radio, festival, NME, shows with Editors, BRMC etc. 'Next Big Thing' blah blah, fun fun fun. Went to New York, played show at Pianos, lower east side. Gigged like crazy, anywhere and everywhere. Got big in Tamworth.
Recorded with Liam Watson at the legendary Toerag studios in London, recorded a single that never happened. Decided to record all our best songs up to that point as an album. Sweated it out with Dave & Stevie to record 10 songs.
July 2007 released 'Shoot the Freak' on Coldrice Records. available to buy here! Got into South By Southwest 2008. Went to Texas with our had rockin brotherhood. Nearly lost a couple in Detroit. Happy days. Got songs used on the soundtrack of MTV's Dirty Sanchez. Welsh nutters injuring themselves to our tracks.
Felt at ease that the songs we'd played and worked on for so long were finally out there, we could move on and write. So many new influences and experiences. No longer just angst and mindfuck blues. Got our groove on and started using bass guitar and singing properly.
Recruited Bobby Chappell, on bass and guitar. Friend of many years, ex-roadie and all round scamp. Started rehearsing and doing a few shows as a 4-piece and began recording Shoot the Freak's follow up at Fazeley Park with our Dave.
Summer 2009. Finished album number two. 'Johnny, The Dog and The Donkey'. 12 songs of eclectic, swinging, genius garage pop, to blow your mind and dig your shins. But then we would say that, or what's the point, right?
Wrote this biography. Put the kettle on. Thanks to everyone who's helped us so far. Also like to mention a few of the bands we've shared the stage with and send them some love. Copter. Junkbox. Little Killers. Demon's Claws. The Dexateens. DTs. Ladyfingers. 80s Matchbox. Punish The Atom (R.I.P). Mr David Viner. Black Mountain. High Plain Drifters. The Lusts. Immortal Lee County Killers. Dan Sartain. Solomons. Awesome Colour. Modey Lemon. Creepy Morons. . .
