About Black Mekon:
These two vicious bastards (Black Mekon and his brother Black Mekon) were named after the legendary Black Mekong, illegitimate children of prostitutes visited by missionary preachers, abandoned to fend for themselves on the banks of The Mekong River.
Raised in a whorehouse by drunk dockworkers in a town called Christ's Gasoline, they were born with only one arm between them and grew up selling sand to sailors and wrestling vermin and wives for the amusement of the locals. The rest of their upbringing is steeped in myth and told mostly in sea shanties, according to legend they escaped on a raft made of old Cramps and Doo Rag 45s using John Lee Hooker and Pussy Galore vinyl to paddle themselves to more familiar shores.

Somewhere along the line they acquired 3 more arms, a gypsy curse, drumsticks and a guitar, and ran into a fellow bluesman on the lam, Stunt Pussy, who agreed to help them whenever they needed to sing for their supper.

The live show? Blistering in-the-red punk blues, their travelling club (The Tight Pussy) has graced shores all over Europe and the US, 2 successful tours of South America and has designs on planting itself firmly in your lap next.

"We do not sing tales for tales sake, we can only approach this at 300mph with no regard for personal safety or truth. Your party needs us, as every good party does, for insecurity, tightrope-ing and hot lava. Black Mekon is your daddy, baby."

None of what you read may be true, all of what you hear is.

About Vinny & The Curse:
Vinny & The Curse played it's first show in April 2009 after a handful of rehearsals. So it'still early days. Scott/Vinny (guitar/singing) & Rich/The Curse (drums/singing), friends of many years shared the bill numerous times in previous bands - The Big Bang and The Mobsters respectively. The spark for V & the C came via a chance encounter becoming a conversation about the Mary Chain.
Next came a mixtape featuring Suicide's 'Speed Queen', The Groupies 'Primitive' & The Moontrekkers 'Night of the Vampire'. The aim was to keep it simple, hence the use of only 2 drums, and one guitar, albeit through a stack of homemade/mistreated amps. The line up is not a gimmick, an attempt to 'slot into' a genre. Neither do we dislike or disrespect the standard band setup, it's just what works for us sonically and socially.

Black Mekon: Broke Into Always On

Black Mekon’s 2nd Long Player Broke Into Always on pushes their punk blues roots even further and crashes the party with some gospel, psych, doowop, ghostly nursery rhyme and even a cover by the last band in the world you would expect these boys to have listened to.Tales of lost love and heartbreak, whoring, hauntings, drugs and the regular visit to their favourite strip club. And it’s all still peaking way in the red, going much too fast for such a small winding road. What the fuck does Eric Clapton know, THIS is the blues!

About The Big Bang:
So. We're the Big Bang. Started doin this December 2003. First it was Matt, Scott and Dan. 2 guitars and drums, no bass but a heap of fx pedals and amps. Rented a scary plaid-walled hole in Hockley and locked ourselves in with cheap booze, paranoia, Black Sabbath and rats that practice voodoo. Made a scary racket that sounded like Monster Magnet meets Chuck Berry, with varying degrees of success.

Started playing a club called ColdRice. Became lifelong friends with all involved, going on to be housemates, girlfriends, touring partners, producers and rock'n'roll brotherhood. Moved in to Fazeley Park studios with brothers Copter.

Various attempts at 'big time', radio, festival, NME, shows with Editors, BRMC etc. 'Next Big Thing' blah blah, fun fun fun. Went to New York, played show at Pianos, lower east side. Gigged like crazy, anywhere and everywhere. Got big in Tamworth.

Recorded with Liam Watson at the legendary Toerag studios in London, recorded a single that never happened. Decided to record all our best songs up to that point as an album. Sweated it out with Dave & Stevie to record 10 songs.

July 2007 released 'Shoot the Freak' on Coldrice Records. available to buy here! Got into South By Southwest 2008. Went to Texas with our had rockin brotherhood. Nearly lost a couple in Detroit. Happy days. Got songs used on the soundtrack of MTV's Dirty Sanchez. Welsh nutters injuring themselves to our tracks.

Felt at ease that the songs we'd played and worked on for so long were finally out there, we could move on and write. So many new influences and experiences. No longer just angst and mindfuck blues. Got our groove on and started using bass guitar and singing properly.

Recruited Bobby Chappell, on bass and guitar. Friend of many years, ex-roadie and all round scamp. Started rehearsing and doing a few shows as a 4-piece and began recording Shoot the Freak's follow up at Fazeley Park with our Dave.

Summer 2009. Finished album number two. 'Johnny, The Dog and The Donkey'. 12 songs of eclectic, swinging, genius garage pop, to blow your mind and dig your shins. But then we would say that, or what's the point, right?

Wrote this biography. Put the kettle on. Thanks to everyone who's helped us so far. Also like to mention a few of the bands we've shared the stage with and send them some love. Copter. Junkbox. Little Killers. Demon's Claws. The Dexateens. DTs. Ladyfingers. 80s Matchbox. Punish The Atom (R.I.P). Mr David Viner. Black Mountain. High Plain Drifters. The Lusts. Immortal Lee County Killers. The Big Bang: Shoot The Freak

The Big Bang’s debut album, a 10 song compilation putting a full stop on their first incarnation. Heavy heavy mindfuck blues melding Chuck Berry with Black Sabbath, a much darker sound from their early days. A big, bad whirlwind of rock n’ roll.
