Uncle Butcher contacted us as a fan. That’s the most important thing about him, he is a fan. despite the fact he has been making music for almost 30 years and has collaborated with some of the greatest artists out there, despite the fact he has toured all over the world countless times and has influenced a whole generation of musicians in his native Brazil, at his core he is still a fan. You will never find anyone more enthusiastic or prolific. Regardless of the climate of music at the time, regardless if it is in favour or not, regardless of his personal situation, he is always creating, always listening, always getting excited about new and old bands that he is discovering. Thee Butchers Orchestra, Jesus And The Groupies, The Moses Complex, the INCREDIBLE Jam Messengers with Rob K and even our very own supergroup The Solid Soul Disciples, he is always creating… and if no one is available to play with, he’ll stamp the kickdrum and play guitar and drop it on us one-man-band style!
It is because of Uncle Butcher that we have travelled Europe and Brazil and made friends all over the world, and discovered bands and music that we would never have known before. We are extremely honoured to count him as a member of the ColdRice family. Uncle Butcher is infectious!

Free music, self expression, trash & blues whatever you want to call it, the fact is that this young man has been playing wild and primitive rock and roll for almost 3 decades always bringing 100% of soul, attitude in a unique form of congregation between the swamp and the high speed of urban urgency. Mix that with the fact that we’re talking about a man that grew up right in the middle of the hardcore explosion and you’re gonna get a sparkling idea of what are’re talking about here.
Marco Butcher a.k.a. Uncle Butcher started playing in punk bands around 11 years old as a drummer and also part of the beginning of punk music in Brazil in the early 80’s. Both hands couldn’t count the list of bands he already played with: Pin ups, Garage Fuzz, Supermarket, Red Meat, Thee Butchers Orchestra, Wedding Swingers, The Boogie Snakes, The Rawcats, Black Mambas, Crow King and The Hardfingers, The Royal Ass Shakers among others. Nowadays he’s playing as Uncle Butcher and His Oneman Band in the meantime with The Jam Messengers which brings Mr. Rob K ex-Workdogs, Velvet Monkeys and Half Japanese as the singer and also The Solid Soul Disciples, a 5 piece band bringing The Fabulous Go Go Boy from Alabama, Black Mekon, Marco Butcher, Brother Mekon and Stunt Pussy.
Always chasing the wild side of rock & roll we could say that all these bands have something in common: the rawness and the primitive aspect of the rock music itself. With several records released all around the globe Marco Butcher has being acting as a producer too, working with people like Sala Especial, Transistors, Vermes do Limbo, The Spots, The Skywalkers, Pullovers, Red Meat, Thee Butchers Orchestra, The Fabulous Go Go Boy from Alabama, Margaret Doll Rod, The Readies (ex Gories) and Fabulous Bandits to name a few. Uncle Butchers credentials hit you like a punch in your pop nightmare.
